Chad has owned dogs since a very young age getting his first dog at age 6. As a kid he taught his dogs a variety of tricks and became intrigued with their ability to learn.

He began his serious K9 training in 1992 while working with a Police Department in Virginia. There he worked with handlers and trainers from the Hostage Negotiation Team and from the FBI.  Chad has BA degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from American University in Washington, DC.

Over the years Chad has honed his K9 training skills and has been fortunate enough to work with some of the top trainers in the country and around the world.  His approach is simple – create a clear path of communication between you and your dog.  He uses motivational training to improve your dog’s strengths and to address your dog’s issues.

Owning a dog should not feel like a job – it should be rewarding.  Chad’s ultimate goal is for you and your dog to have a happy healthy relationship and for your dog to be a dependable companion for you and your family.

Training Philosophy

Chad Alden - Owner & Head Trainer

Every dog has a unique personality and disposition. Because of this, every dog needs to be trained differently. What might work for one dog or one owner may not work for the next.  This requires a unique trainer, with a wide range of experience and a wealth of knowledge. Attempting to train every dog and every human in the exact same fashion will often leave some clients feeling very frustrated.   At Sentinel Canine Academy  we use a combination or time tested training methods based on canine behavior and motivational training to help both you and your dog learn and get RESULTS!  Whether you want to train a puppy, or an older dog, you need expert guidance to effectively communicate with your dog. You can count on Sentinel Canine Academy to provide the perfect environment for you and your dog to reach your training goals.
